OREGON – Stephen R. Farraday, 76, of Oregon, died Tuesday January 24, 2012 in KSB Hospital, Dixon. Born July 2, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of Russell and Martha (Hurley) Fardy. Married to Patricia Baumann April 15, 1961 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Skokie. Steve was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, Lewis University and Air Traffic Control School in Oklahoma City. He was employed by the FAA as an air traffic controller at the Chicago Center for 40 years, retiring in 1998. He and Pat lived in Oregon since 1996 after residing in Aurora for 30 years. Steve served in the US Navy. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Oregon, Oregon Knights of Columbus Council 1092, Oregon Lions Club and Blackhawk Bicycle and Ski Club. Steve was an aviation and Lionel train enthusiast, a lifelong avid bicyclist and a lover of the outdoors and birds. Survived by his wife, Pat of Oregon; sons, Michael (Kathe) Farraday of Wheaton and James (Sunna) Farraday of Mt. Prospect; daughters, Laura (James) Mont of Flower Mound, TX, Diana (David) Foster of Doyles Town, PA and Mary Beth (Jont) Tyson of Wauwatosa, WI; 12 grandchildren: Megan, Jack, Sarrah, Benjamin, Michael, Collin, William, Julia, Truman, Henry, Mia and Erin; and brother, Richard Fardy of Naples, FL. Preceded in death by his parents. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00am Monday January 30 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Oregon with Rev. Joseph Naill , celebrant. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Oregon. Visitation will be Sunday 3:00 – 6:00pm in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with a 6:00pm wake service. A memorial fund has been established.
