MT. MORRIS – Marvin R. Murray, 83, of Mt. Morris and formerly of Chana, died Wednesday February 8, 2012 in the Serenity Hospice Home, Oregon. Born December 3, 1928 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Tom and Madge (Thompson) Murray. Married to Phyllis “June” Daugherty February 28, 1953 in Ottumwa; she died June 15, 2005. Marvin moved to Chana from Ottumwa in 1968 and then to Mt. Morris in 2005. He was employed at Quaker Oats in Oregon 12 ½ years, retiring in 1987 and was a member of Mt. Morris Moose Lodge No. 1551. Survived by his son, Doug Murray of Oregon; daughters, Bonnie (Cerby) Merrill of Oregon and Julie (Don) Whetsel of Byron; daughter-in-law, Brenda Murray of Rochelle; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Murray of California; sisters: Mary Effert of Brewster, WA, Joanne Johnson of Florida, Judy (Alan) Eden of Annamosa, Iowa and Karen Thompson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; and special friend, Rose Merrill . Also preceded in death by his parents, son, Kenneth Richard Murray, brother Paul and sister Marvelle Leffler. Funeral services will be held at 12noon Monday February 13 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, preceded by a visitation beginning at 10:00am. Burial in Trinity Memory Gardens, Rochelle.
