Wayne Lackey
Name:
Wayne Lackey
Date of Death:
Jan 30, 2013
Funeral Home:
Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon - Oregon

POLO – Wayne Lackey, 87, of Polo, was taken by the angels on January 30, 2013. God gently reached down and took him peacefully in his sleep at the Polo Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Polo. Born July 25, 1925 in Low Gap, Arkansas the son of Joe Burrell and Jennie Viola (Scroggins) Lackey. He was the forth child in a family of eight children. Wayne was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army Corp of Engineers in Germany from 1952 to 1954. He married NelVada Kilgore in Harrison, Arkansas on October 26, 1955. They moved to Illinois so he could work in the timber and cut stabolts. He was later employed in Maintenance at Wood Bros. from 1956 until his retirement in 1991. Wayne enjoyed all kinds of work. He was good with his hands and built many things during his lifetime. He left us many things that he so caringly crafted for us with love. He was a gardener and was always there to help his family whenever he could. He always said he could fix anything we would bring to him, except a broken heart, which coincidentally is finally what got just too tired to stay here any longer. Survived by his son, Douglas (Lisa) Lackey and daughter, Rita (Toby) Remrey, both of Oregon; grandchildren: Jedediah Remrey, Jarod Remrey and Riley (Roger) Comins of Oregon and Kayla (Justin) Hibbetts of Mt. Morris; two very special great grandchildren, Spencer and Chelsea Hibbetts; and two brothers, Preston Lackey and Sanford Lackey of Low Gap, Arkansas. Predeceased by his wife, Nell in 1995 : infant daughter, Diana Lynn; brothers, Burrell, Gussie and Wendell Lackey; and sisters, Mabel King and Lessie Austin. Services will be private. No visitation. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Polo. Special thanks to all the staff at the Polo Nursing Home and Serenity Hospice for caring for our Father and PaPa at the end of the journey on his way home.
