Vera Pauline Finkbeiner, beloved Mother and Grandmother passed away February 9th, 2013 at Pinecrest Manor at the age of 98. She was born September 10th, 1914 to William F. and Clara (Sender) Buske. Vera and her husband, Boyd moved from Freeport to Oregon in 1946 to own and operate the Koffee Kup Café on 4th Street. In the late 1950's and early 60's Boyd owned a tavern on 3rd Street. Her husband predeceased her in 1976 after a long illness. Vera was known for her spirit, which was lively, curious and independent. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. At St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was called the "hug lady", Vera was honored with a plaque for her 46 years of singing in the choir. She was active in the Women's Circle as a chairperson and lesson leader. Vera practiced her sewing abilities helping to make quilts for the Lutheran World Relief. For years she helped collate the church newsletter. She worked at the ASC (a federal agriculture program) until she retired. An avid reader, she dabbled in writing poetry and had a few published in the Rockford paper. She always said her hobbies were; reading, writing and people. Vera outlived six brothers, Clayton, Robert, Vernon, Carson, Rodger Buske of Stockton and two sisters, Margaret Haight and Marion Bruehler of Freeport. She is survived by a sister, Geraldine Sanders of Belvidere; her son Ronald (Marilyn) Finkbeiner of CA and daughter Georgia (Gary) Kroll of WI. Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren will miss her loving hugs. Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon is assisting the family with arrangements.
