Byron – Marian E. Bolen, age 85, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. She was born Jan. 5, 1928 the daughter to Alvin and Gertie (Ruter) Kuper. Marian graduated from Forreston High School in 1945. She married Eugene Bolen on Jan. 8, 1946 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She formerly worked for the Freeport Bank and also Forreston Mutual Fire Insurance Co. Marian was a member of the Untied Church of Byron where she served on the funeral committee and was part of the Ladie's Circle. She volunteered at the Neighbor's Nursing Home and at Swedish American Hospital. She enjoyed her flowers, garden, sewing, and quilting. Marian was predeceased by her parents and sister Elva Ann Williams. Survived by her husband Eugene Bolen of Byron, daughter Sandy Wiederholtz of Leaf River, and son Jim (Pam) Bolen of Davis Junction, 5 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Tue., Feb. 19th, at the United Church of Byron with the Rev. Michael Mulberry pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeport. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund is established in her name.
