Stillman Valley, IL
Janice Elaine Allen was born in Rockford IL in 1932. She grew up in nearby Byron and Stillman Valley IL, graduating as Valedictorian from Stillman Valley High School where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen.
She worked for the US Navy in Washington DC after graduation, but returned home to Illinois raising her family and living most of her life in the Rockford area. After she retired as a female pioneer in the industrial scale business, she lived for a time in Washington, Oklahoma, Utah, and Illinois. No matter where she lived, she always considered Rockford her “true” home.
Janice is survived by her sister Marla McCoy (Phil), two nephews, her three children: Marisa Cox (Billy), Shari Gaul (Eddie), Brian Allen (Chris), and was blessed with seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Janice loved to travel, learn and experience new things, and spending time with her many beloved friends . She also loved playing casino games at her many favorite casinos. It didn’t matter what state she was in or ship she was on - she would make sure to find the casino. She loved to dance, listen to music, attend plays and especially loved her kitty cats. She even tolerated a pet dog here and there.
She was the type of friend you could always count on to lend a hand or an ear. She could be brutally honest but at the same time she was caring and loyal.
Janice will be missed by everyone who knew her. Because Janice loved her kitties so much, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to an animal rescue in her name.
Thank you to all who shared your friendship, your joys, your sorrows, your lives with our mother.
