James "Bo" Tasso

James “Bo” Tasso, age 67, passed away at PA Peterson at the Citadel in Rockford on November 22, 2020. He was born in Elmhurst, IL on January 27, 1953 the son of John and Helen (Talareck) Tasso. He graduated from Stillman Valley High School class of 1971. Bo married Susan Fruin on May 4, 1973. He owned and operated his own trucking service as an independent contractor for 12 years before starting Tasso Chimney Sweep & Masonry Repair which he ran for almost 30 years. Bo was awarded the President’s Award by the NCSG. He served on the board of the Chimney Safety Institute of America where he received the Unsung Hero Award, CSIA Master Sweep Award as well as multiple other recognitions. He served as an election judge for the Scott Township for many years. In his spare time; Bo was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting. But, more than anything he was a family man who loved spending time with his family and being an involved grandparent. He is survived by his wife Susan of Stillman Valley; children, Amber (Weslee) McClendon of Stillman Valley, Thad (Allison) Tasso of Norfolk, VA, and Branden (Leah) Tasso of Richfield, MN; siblings, Jon (Heather) Tasso of CA, Bob Tasso of AL, Allison (Chuck) Ciaramita of NC, and Bill Tasso of AL; grandchildren, Grant, Kylie, Jackson, Virginia, Braxton, Theo, and one grandson arriving in January 2021; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions no services will be held at this time but a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials are established for the Stillman Valley Fire Dept. and Serenity Hospice and Home.
