Alice E. Knaub

LEAF RIVER, IL ~ Alice E. Knaub, age 78, died on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in her home, surrounded by her family.  She was born on May 5, 1945 in Rockford, IL the daughter of John & Eileen (Vondra) Novak. Alice graduated Boylan Catholic High School in 1963.  Three years later on October 8, 1966 she married the love of her life Gary Knaub in Rockford.  Alice always loved simple things in life like cooking, gardening, and canning.  She had a deep love of Angels.  Her first and forever love however was her family.  She was a loving friend, wife, and mother to anyone who needed it. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gary, daughter-in-law Connie, and her siblings Lyle and Janice.

Alice is survived and missed dearly by her loving family, sons Gary (Tastsiana) Knaub Jr. of Leaf River, IL, Tim (Rosa) Knaub of Leaf River, IL, Scott (Julie) Josephitis of Stoughton, WI; daughter, Brenda Knaub of Hartsel CO; brother, Keith Novak of IL; and grandchildren, Alice Knaub, Gabriela Knaub, and Danny Knaub; great-grandchild Lee Knaub on the way soon.

The family would like to extend a large thank you to Rosa, Alice’s daughter-in-law, for her 6 years of help taking care of her.  With her help, Alice was able to spend her final days in her home in Leaf River.  

A memorial service will be held in her honor at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home of Byron, IL,  on Saturday, February 3, 2024 starting at 1:00 pm with Deacon Tom Petit of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Byron presiding.  A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the memorial service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.  Alice will be laid to rest with her husband in Byron Cemetery.  Memorial donations made be made to FNH Hospice in her name.
