Alsime "Al" Thibodeau

Reedsburg, Wisconsin – Alsime “Al” Thibodeau, age 97, formerly of Stillman Valley, IL died peacefully at his home on Friday, September 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept. 7, 1929, in Millinocket, Maine, the son of Maxime and Jane Thibodeau. He attended Belfast Maine schools. He married Arlene Albrecht on April 18, 1954, in Momence, Illinois. He was a professional photographer for most of his life. He also was a carpenter and hobby farmer raising cattle, chickens, and horses. Al was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Byron serving as President of Parish Council, President of St. Vincent DePaul Society, teacher coordinator of CCD, sang in the church choir, and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed volunteering to help others by doing home care visits to those on hospice, helping the handicapped, and teaching English to those who could not speak the language. He was predeceased by his parents, 8 siblings, son Craig David Thibodeau, and great grandson Maddox. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years Arlene; children Rick (Cheryl) Thibodeau, Brian (Kelli) Thibodeau, and Wendy (Keith) Gritt; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be on Friday, September 18, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Byron from 9:30 am -10:45 am, followed by a Mass at 11:00 am with Rev. Romeo Pavino officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Byron. A memorial fund is established in his name for the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, Illinois.
