Bambi M. Hinkle-Akins

Mt. Morris, IL – Bambi Mae Hinkle-Akins, age 45, died Monday, August 4, 2025 at OSF Saint Katherine Medical Center in Dixon following a sudden illness. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Bambi was born August 21, 1979 in Dixon, Illinois the daughter to Charles and Robin (Camplain) Hinkle. She graduated from Oregon High School in 1998. Bambi previously worked for Nation Wide in Freeport, IL and cared for the elderly as an in-house care giver. She liked to crochet and would make blankets for her friends and relatives. Bambi also liked to do crafting, raise chickens, and spend time with her family, especially during football season. She was a volunteer at the Ogle County Fair every year and was on the board for many Leaf River events. Bambi was predeceased by her father Charles Hinkle, Sr., her infant Precious, maternal grandfather Roger Camplain, paternal grandparents Alice and Jim Akins, and brothers-in-law Jamie Campbell and Shiloh Balluff. She is survived by her husband Shane Akins of Mt. Morris, IL; children Matthew and Pypar Akins of Mt. Morris, IL; mother Robin Camplain of Oregon, IL; sisters Nicole (Greg) Wesselmann of Oregon, IL and Tyanne Rosquist Wallin of Leaf River, IL; brother Charles Hinkle, Jr. of Oregon, IL; maternal grandmother Thelma Camplain of Oregon, IL; parents-in-law Jesse and Jody Akins of Forreston, IL and Gary and Anna Harper of Wyaconda, MO; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, IL with Rev. Scott Ralston pastor of Forreston Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Silver Creek Cemetery near Leaf River, IL. A memorial fund is established in Bambi’s name and may be directed to her family.
