Barry Michael Jones, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Mike was born on April 19, 1950 at Warmolts Clinic in Oregon, Illinois to Harold “Doc” and Kathryn (Roos) Jones. He lived his entire life in Oregon and graduated from Oregon High School in 1969. He later attended Sauk Valley Community College.
On September 27, 1975, Mike married the love of his life, Rachel Oltmanns, at Oregon United Methodist Church. Together, Mike and Rachel shared more than 50 years of marriage, building a life centered around their family.
Mike was a dedicated and hardworking man. After high school he worked for Kable Printing in Mt. Morris. He then spent 42 years working at Wood Brothers in Oregon, from 1974 until his retirement in 2016.
Mike’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel; his son, Aaron (Carrie) Jones of Pekin, Illinois; his daughter, Sarah (Joe) Brooks of Playa Ocotal, Costa Rica; and his granddaughters, Violet Jones and Grace Jones of Pekin, Illinois.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Sam (Jodi) Thomas, Lisa (Tom) Porter, Kevin (Kelly) Jones, and Connie (Jim) Shultz along with their families.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Kathryn Jones; his brother, Robert Jones; his sister, Anna Lee Thomas; his in-laws, Francis, Grace, and Cheryl Oltmanns; and his nephew, Bradley Thomas.
Mike will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through the family he cherished, the community he was part of, and the many lives he touched throughout his 76 years.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until time of service at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Oregon. Burial will be at Riverview cemetery in Oregon. Memorials are established for Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon or the Ogle County K9 Fund.
