Connie Jacobs, 84, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026 at Sherwood Village Assisted Living & Memory Care in Tucson, Arizona. She was born on April 19, 1942, in Rochelle, Illinois, to a loving father and a strong, hardworking mother who helped shape the resilience and adaptability she carried throughout her life.
From an early age, Connie developed a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife, a love instilled in her by her father, who was a profound influence in her life. After his passing in 1974, she carried his memory with her always and will be laid to rest beside him, reunited in spirit.
As she grew, Connie became known for her intelligence, earning the nickname “the Brain” in high school. She had a lifelong love of learning and, remarkably, taught herself basic Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese during her retirement years—even while facing the challenges of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Beyond her intellect, Connie was also known for her character. A defining moment came during her youth when she won a bicycle in a local hardware store contest. Upon learning that another boy—who had led the contest for weeks—was heartbroken over losing, Connie chose to give the bicycle to him, reflecting the generosity and compassion she often showed throughout her life.
Connie was known for her radiant smile and infectious laugh, which could light up any room. Her strength and unwavering determination carried her through life’s many challenges with grace and quiet optimism.
Most importantly, Connie’s greatest legacy is her family. She shared over 30 years with her former spouse, Thomas Jacobs, and together they raised four children: Andrew Jacobs (grandchildren Kira and Alex), Frederick Jacobs, Laurie Jacobs, and Crystal Jacobs. She instilled in her children the importance of kindness, hard work, integrity, and putting others first—values that continue to live on through them.
She is also survived by her mother, Carol (Kasper) Shempert, at the age of 102, and her brother, Craig Shempert (wife Joscelyn Shempert).
She found companionship in her beloved cats, Henry and Munchkin.
In her later years, Connie found comfort in her Christian faith, which became a guiding force as she navigated the challenges of Alzheimer’s.
Connie will be remembered as a brilliant, kind-hearted woman whose strength, generosity, and enduring smile touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
