Darlene Jones

Darlene B. Jones, 92, lifelong Oregon area resident, died Thursday, January 21, 2021 in Oregon Living & Rehabilitation Center. Born August 5, 1928 in rural Sterling, the daughter of Clifford and Myrtle (Shoffner) Young. Married to Robert E. “Pete” Jones August 16, 1946 in Mt. Morris; he died July 25, 2002. She was employed as a cook at White Pines Ranch, retiring in 1990 after 18 years of service. Darlene was a friend to everyone and enjoyed crocheting, making blankets for all the members of her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Oregon and an active volunteer at Lifeline Food Pantry in Oregon. Survived by sons, Ronald (Charlott) Young of Oregon and Clifford (Rhonda) Jones of Ashton; grandchildren: Jim (Sandra) Young, Brian (Susie) Young and Kelly (Tim) Henert; 10 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; step-brother, Floyd (Edna) Netzz of Fairhope, AL; sister-in-law, Miriam Young of Hayward, WI; and many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by her parents; an infant son; and brother, Robert Young. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, private family funeral services will be held at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with Pastor Michael Hoffman and Pastor David Rogula co-officiating. Burial in Grand Detour Cemetery. A public celebration of Darlens’s life is planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Darlene’s name may be made to Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon.
