David R. Arbogast

OREGON, IL ~ David R. Arbogast, age 68, passed away after a long battle with health complications at Javon Bea Hospital of Rockford, IL, on Friday, March 20, 2026. He was born on December 24, 1957, at the Warmolts Clinic of Oregon, IL, the son of Theodore “Ted” & Betty (Jones) Arbogast. David lived much of his life in the Oregon area, attending Oregon School district. He worked as a machinist for several local companies including Etnyre, Woods, Rockford Products in Rockford and Gleason Cutting Tools in Loves Park. David very much enjoyed being active throughout his entire life. He had a passion for bowling, fishing, hunting for morel mushrooms, camping, and tinkering with different projects. He was also heavily involved in several motorcycle organizations during the 1980s, like the Rock River Riders M/C and the Immortal Motorcycle Club. He loved to race motorbikes at the RRRMC hillclimb; he won several trophies throughout his racing career. David’s truest passion of all was his family, especially his daughter, Samantha. The two would spend hours together in the kitchen cooking and experimenting with different recipes.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ted & Betty, and several thoroughly beloved family members. David is survived and missed dearly by his beloved daughter Samantha (Jeremy Kramer) Arbogast of Dixon, IL; honorary daughter Staci (Nick) Bartimus of Oregon, IL; sister Debbie Reed of Rockford, IL; grandchildren Jordan, Isabelle, Ari, Camellia, Hayden, Aubrey; ex-wife Debra Reigle of Oregon, IL; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a nephew.

Cremation rites have been scheduled and will be followed by a visitation which is to be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home of 110 S. 7th St, Oregon, IL, 61061. Immediately following the visitation will be a memorial service honoring David’s life led by Pastor Luke Shier at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 AM. David will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery alongside his parents following a private family graveside to be held at a later time.
