Dawson C. Rowland, 83, of Amboy and formerly of Oregon, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in his home; his family lost a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Born November 16, 1937 in Haldane, the son of Floyd and Geraldine (Martz) Rowland. Married to Marie Sanford July 25, 1964 in Oregon. Dawson enjoyed family time, camping at Woodhaven Lakes, going for walks with his dogs (Pixie & Ziggy), traveling with his wife and watching the wildlife. He worked at E.D. Etnyre & Co. in Oregon for 58 ½ years, retiring in 2014. Dawson is a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Sterling. Survived by his wife, Marie Rowland of Amboy; 4 children: Curtis Rowland of Princeton, Troy Rowland of Rochelle, Starla Clover of Belton, TX and Brian Rowland of Amboy; 5 grandchildren: Stephanie Rowland of Rochelle, Kaybrei Isaacs of Little River Academy, TX, (JJ) John Newman of Harker Heights, TX, Rebekah Rowland of Princeton and Dylann Newman of Temple, TX; 3 great grandchildren: Kinslee Isaacs, Zane Isaacs and Aedan Meyers-Newman; and sister, Shirley Hagemann of Mt. Morris. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harrison Rowland. His love and free spirit will live on through his family and friends. Gone but not forgotten. PS “Keep the fork, the best is yet to come.” Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family Memorial Service will be held at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with Pastor Bob Hinkleman of  The People Church, Princeton presiding. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dawson’s name may be made to Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon.
