BYRON, IL ~ Edwin “Bud” Delano Fransen III, 82, passed away in his Byron home on the morning of Saturday, August 2, 2025. He was born on September 18, 1942, in Sterling, IL, the son of Edwin Delano II & Mabelle (Richards) Fransen. Edwin loved life, enjoyed watching the Bears play football, even when they weren’t doing well, playing golf, and spending time on the Rock River, loving his time on the water. He was a man of many talents; he would paint often, he loved to work on building things along with remodeling his home, doing the work himself. His truest passion of all, was his family, he loved to be with them whenever he possibly could.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin II & Mabelle, first wife Donna Jean (Finn) Fransen, second wife Roxanna Sue (Oimstead) Fransen, son Shawn Fransen, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived and missed dearly by his two sons Derek (Sarah) Fransen, Del Fransen; step-daughter, Traci (John) Nicolosi; grandchildren, Brooke Fransen, Daniell Fransen, Reana Fransen, McCoy Fransen, Lily Fransen, Jaylyn Manos and Isaiah Manos; great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Hudson, Jaksyn and Jace; sisters Karen (Ken) Wennekamp, Bonnie (Fred) Davis, Eileen Fransen; and many neices and nephews.
A visitation honoring Bud will take place on Thursday, August 7, 2025, between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home at 506 W. Merchant St, Byron, IL, 61010. Bud will than be cremated and laid to rest, privately, with his first wife, Donna Jean, at Oak Knoll Cemetery of Sterling, IL. Memorials are established in his name and may be directed to his family.
