Elaine S. Hanna

Elaine Susan Hanna, age 67, died peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Generations at Neighbor’s in Byron following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 8, 1958 in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Keith and Marcia (McCampbell) Hanna. Elaine attended Northeast Missouri State and the University of Iowa. She lived in London and Paris, working in medical anthropology with various pharmaceutical companies. As an accomplished opera singer, she sang often at Prince Albert Hall in London with Dame Vera Lynn and others. She loved to travel and spent several years in Kenya, Africa. She was predeceased by her parents and her loving niece Riley Smith. She is survived by her siblings Amy (Jon) Mikelson of Iowa City, Iowa; Guy Hanna of North Lake, Texas; and Hilary Hanna of Oregon, IL; and 3 nieces Devan Hanna, Kate Hanna, and Lauren Hanna. Elaine is also survived by her best friend and fellow opera singer Kathy Millington-Drake. At Elaine’s request, no services are planned. A memorial fund is established in her name and may be directed to the family.
