Ernest L. Mack, age 82, of Oregon, formally of Chicago passed away on November 22, 2021. He was born in Chicago on July 19, 1939. After graduation he served in the US Army. He then became a Chicago police officer for over thirty years before he retired. He married the love of his life Bernadine Johnsen and they shared over loving 50 years together. They attended the Oregon Church of God. Ernest was a work out buff and enjoyed going to the Nash Center to work out. He also enjoyed bowling. Ernest loved to travel to Florida where he could soak up the warm sun and swim. He is survived and missed by his wife, Bernadine of Oregon; children, Cathy Sobecki of Oregon and Daniel (Tracy McGowan) Carrao of Rockford; sister Carole Gricus of Chicago; grandchildren, Heather Derobertis, Victoria Sobecki, Jessica (Fiance Matt Tritthardt) Sobecki, Daniel Carrao, Sean Carrao, Skylar Carrao; and great grandchildren, Aiden Derobertis, Robert Derobertis, Christopher Derobertis, Samantha Derobertis. Stella Carrao, Kylar Sobecki, and Alaina Sobecki. He was predeceased by his son Michael Mack. No services are scheduled at this time.
