Harold "Harry" Nelson

Harold “Harry” B. Nelson, age 84, passed away at his home on Sunday, November, 23, 2025. He was born on August 12, 1941 the son of Ralph and Corrine (Gronberg) Nelson. He grew up in the Rockford area and married Marion Johnson on November 27, 1964. Harry proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked many years as a welder for Chrysler before retirement. Inventiveness coursed through Harry’s veins; he was a true craftsman, capable of turning what others might discard into marvelous creations. Whether he was tinkering to whip up a gadget or fashioning and welding an innovative tool. He enjoyed trying new hobbies and found a passion for photography. He liked driving motorcycles and hot rods. Harry enjoyed the outdoors spending spare time hunting, fishing, and shooting guns. He also loved a quiet night indoors with his beloved dog, Lulu.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son and daughter-in-law, Steve (Gayla) Nelson. He is survived by his son, Bob (April) Nelson of Rockford and Beth Nelson of Byron; siblings, Larry (Doni) Nelson and Pat Staff; grandchildren, Lucas, Maxwell, Emily, and Kendal and many great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
