Helen "Pat" J. Howell

MONROE CENTER, IL ~ Helen J. Howell, (Pat), age 75, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 8, 2024.  She was born on June 5, 1948, in Rockford, IL the daughter of Donald & Arlene (Martz) Angell.  Helen graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1966 before moving on to Rock Valley College to get her associate degree.  On June 29, 1968, she married the love of her life Michael (Mike) Howell at the Cathedral Church in Rockford, IL.  Helen loved many things in life among which her favorites were country living, traveling, camping, sewing, knitting, gardening flowers, riding and caring for her horses on their farm.  She even published several articles about horses throughout her lifetime.  Early in her marriage, Pat and Mike traveled by motorcycle for over 16 years, going from coast to coast in both the U.S. and Canada.  They then started her family, which was her truest love. 

She is preceded in death by her parents. Helen is survived and dearly missed as the most wonderful and caring wife and mother by her loved husband of 55 years Mike Howell of Monroe Center, IL; son Steven (Lisa Parker) Howell of Monroe Center, IL; brother Donald (Ellen) Angell of Florida; and niece Beth (Ryan) Noble of Colorado.

Helen will be laid to rest with her family in Monroe Center Cemetery, Monroe Center, IL.  Memorial donations may be made to Monroe Center Cemetery in her name.
