Jackie D. Spray

Jackie D. Spray, age 73, passed away at UW Swedish American Hospital on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. He was born in Arkansas on August 6, 1951 the son of Leo and Gladys (Williams) Spray. The family settled in northern Illinois and Jackie graduated from Stillman Valley High School. He married the love of his life, Shirley Byerley on May 23, 1981 and they had a beautiful marriage lasting 44 years. Jackie retired from Elco Industries/MNP after 50 years with the company. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and will be remembered for his kind and caring spirit. He was incredibly handy and could fix anything. He loved his community and was a huge fan of Stillman Valley High School Football. He rarely ever missed a game no matter how far the drive. He also was a big Chicago Bears fan. But, more than anything Jackie loved his family and being a father and grandfather. He would drop anything to be there for his kids even once they were adults. There was no task to big or small when it came to being there for them. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Shirley (George) Garrett and Caroline (Ernest) Vandever, and in-laws, Johnnie and Dorothy Byerley. He is survived and missed by his wife, Shirley of Davis Junction; children, Michelle Byerley of Davis Junction, Michael (Sarah) Spray of Davis Junction, and Amanda (Barry) Miller of Stillman Valley; grandchildren, Alyssa (Luna) Byerley, Wyatt Miller, and Annabell Spray; and many other family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Stillman Valley with Molly Bowen officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until time of service. Memorials are established in his name.
