Janice M. Zimmer

Janice M. “Meemaw” Zimmer passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 after a short illness at St. Anthony’s in Rockford, IL at the age of 57. 

Janice was born Sunday, September 19, 1965 and grew up in Ashton, Illinois, graduating with the class of 1983 from Ashton High School.  She worked at Crest Foods in Ashton, Austin-Westran in Byron and Casey’s in Oregon over the years.

Janice was always smiling and thoroughly enjoyed being Meemaw and spending time with her “Munchkin”.  She collected Mickey Mouse and anything with hearts.  Janice enjoyed being in comfy clothes and comfortable, curled up watching Days of Our Lives and any Life Time movie.  Anyone that knew Janice, knew her to have a sweet demeanor.

Janice is survived by her mother Gilda Reeves of Arkansas; daughter and best friend, Skyela Zimmer (Eric Hoff), grandson “Munckin” Jeremy Zimmer all of Rockford, IL; step-son Jon Henson of Dixon, IL; siblings:  Chuck Everman of Arkansas; Frankie Zacharias of Virginia; Michele Payne of Arkansas; Kim Rone of Arkansas; Scotty Brewer of Michigan; John (Carrie) Holmes of Illinois and Mike Holmes of Illinois.  Lifelong special friend and ‘sister’ Tina Hecathorn; Adrianna Jeter and Alyssa Sager, who were both like her daughters; along with many nieces and nephews that she loved and cared about.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Linda Holmes; sister Robyn Holmes and nephew A.J. Zacharias.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
