John W. Traver, Jr.

John W. Traver, Jr age 78, died Saturday, October 17, 2026, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL. He was born on September 18, 1948, in Kings, IL the son of John and Daisy (Wallace) Traver. He attended Stillman Valley schools. He married Patricia Beers, enjoying over 35 years of marriage. John owned and operated JT’s Towing for over 35 years. John’s family and friends were very important to him. He enjoyed living near and boating on the Rock River. He was predeceased by his parents John and Daisy Traver, his son John W. Traver, III, his daughter Tiffani Lynn Traver, sister Joann (Dave) Southwick, and nephew Michael Southwick. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia of Oregon, IL; granddaughter Denise Rene (Andrea) Turrisi of Plymouth, Connecticut; great granddaughters Sage Rene and Rosemary Elizabeth Turrisi; niece Terri Southwick; nephew Patrick (Christina) Southwick; several great nieces and nephews; and special friends Tim Richardson, Alex Gall and his family, and Tamra VanCleve. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Steet in Oregon, IL. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, at the Ashton Cemetery with Pastor Michael Hoffman officiating. A memorial fund is established in John’s name.
