John W. Uhlar, age 80, entered into eternal rest with his Lord on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. He was born on August 21, 1941 in Detroit the son of John and Ruth (Turpin) Uhlar. He married Loretta Stabenow on October 3, 1964. He owned and operated J&L Engineering in Rockford for many years. John was a prayerful man who loved the Lord, his bible, and leading his family to have faith filled lives. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Oregon for many years. When he wasn’t working or at church John loved the outdoors; spending time fishing at the cabin he built with his family. He also loved to go snowmobiling. He was a major bowler and avid golfer. John was incredibly handy and there was nothing he couldn’t fix. But, more than anything he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived and missed by his loving wife, Loretta of Stillman Valley; children, Jeff (Rhonda Hall) Uhlar of Trussville, AL and Luann (Marvin Capps) Chapman of Byron; siblings, Daniel (Margie) Uhlar of Elbert, CO and Mary Ann Edler of Shannon, IL; grandchildren, Ashlee (Ashis) Jana, Chelsea Uhlar, Collin (Karlee) Uhlar, Zachary Chapman, Taylor (Fiancé Ayden Whaley) Chapman, Addison Chapman, Julia Capps, Jodie Capps, Jordan Capps, Madison McGee, and Malachi McGee; great grandchildren, Caroline and Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Stillman Valley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Oregon with Pastor David Snow officiating. Memorials are established in his name.
