Marian B. Heng, age 93, a longtime Chana resident passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, surrounded by her family at Serenity Hospice and Home near Oregon, IL. Marian was born on October 18, 1932, in Pine Rock Township, Ogle County the daughter of Edward and Bernice (Lumsden) Potts. She graduated from Oregon High School in 1950. Marian married Charles “Charlie” Heng on July 1, 1950, at Chana United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of Boot Scootin’ Senior (line dancing) Club. Marian enjoyed her sunrises, walking, gardening, and keeping up with her family’s sporting events. She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family. She was a member of Chana United Methodist Church, Pine Rock Garden Club, Oregon VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Ladies of the Moose in Mount Morris, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Bernice Potts, her husband Charles, her sister Dolores Brandon, her brother Gerald Potts, and brother-in-law Ruben Mueller. She is survived by her children Sue Heng of Oregon; Mike (Joan) Heng of Oregon; and Chuck (Jeanie) Heng of Byron; 3 grandchildren Jennifer Heng, Michelle Heng (Justin Early), and Marc Heng; 7 great grandchildren: Brooke, Abby, Kylar, Haiden, Gavin, Ashton, and Emma; siblings Elsie Johnson of Rochelle, James Potts of Oregon, and Teresa Mueller of Rochelle; sister-in-law Eleanor Potts of Rockford; many nieces, nephews; and very special friends and neighbors Wayne and Millie Meador, Tom VanSickle, and Penny Miller. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, IL with Pastor Bill Hollowell of Chana United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens near Rochelle, IL. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is established in Marian’s name for Serenity Hospice and Home or Oregon Fire Protection District.
