Rockford, IL – Maureen L. Rekemeyer, age 73, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL. She was born August 30, 1947 in Rockford the daughter of David and Lelah (Knott) Wetherell. She graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1965. Maureen married Joe Rekemeyer on May 24, 1991 in Rockford. She worked 30 years for Sundstrand in Rockford. She was given the Silver Snoopy award from NASA for her accomplishments on the Space Shuttle. Maureen enjoyed golfing, gambling and being around her family where she was the queen grandma. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter Janel Gonzales, and sister Daveen Winters. She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years Joe Rekemeyer of Rockford, daughter Colleen (Jerry) Yarbrough of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, 8 Grandchildren; Danielle Hansen, Tyler, Travis (Alison), Kendyl and Meadow Yarbrough, Jacob Ellsworth, Noah Hansen, and one on the way (Westyn Hansen). Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Maureen’s life will take place at a later date. A memorial fund is established in Maureen’s name for the ASCPA.
