STILLMAN VALLEY, IL — Maximilian “Max” Michael Lydon, 30, passed away suddenly at his home in Stillman Valley on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Max was born on July 6, 1995, in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, the beloved son of Mark and Clara (Urgesi) Lydon. Max worked as a Project Manager for Hammerhead Aquatics, where he oversaw a wide variety of projects and adventures that took him to his hometown favorite, the Shedd Aquarium, to work opportunities internationally. He cherished every moment spent with his Hammerhead team and deeply valued the mentorship and friendship of Jason Jovaag.
Max was never an ordinary person. He embraced life fearlessly and passionately — skydiving alongside his father, snowboarding the mountains of Arizona, snowmobiling, and scuba diving in Mexico. He lived for adventure and made lasting memories everywhere he went.
One of Max’s greatest displays of strength came last year following his heart transplant. Through every challenge, Max never gave up. That simply was not who he was. He always believed there was a way forward and worked tirelessly to figure things out before ever considering defeat.
Max was preceded in death by his father, Mark; cousin, Maria; Uncle Vito; his maternal grandparents; and his paternal grandparents.
He leaves behind many who will miss him dearly, including his loving mother, Clara Lydon of San Tan Valley, Arizona; his sister, Ari (Gio) Castillo of Arizona; his beloved niece, Luna; his boss and dear friend, Jason Jovaag; the entire Hammerhead Aquatics team; his cherished dogs, Nala, Rocco, and Gia; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Max’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
