Davis Junction

Davis Junction, IL – Pamela M. Bolen, age 76, died Friday, September 30, 2022, surrounded by her family at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. She was born February 24, 1946 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Forrest and Viola (Dummer) Simons. She graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1964. Pam married the love of her life, James Bolen, 54 years ago on March 23, 1968 at the United Methodist Church in Rockford. Together they farmed in the Davis Junction area, where they raised their two daughters, Ann Marie and Leslie. Pam had an amazing alto voice and truly loved music. She and her brothers grew up playing piano in the Davis Junction United Methodist Church. Pam continued to share her musical talents, playing the pipe organ and piano for the United Church of Byron and the piano at the Red Brick Church in Stillman Valley. Pam’s faith and heart for serving God by loving and caring for others was evident to everyone who knew her; she loved spending time with her family and friends, going on countless adventures, and volunteering; she was always the life of the party. Pam’s high school potluck still got together every month, which she cherished. She loved spending time with the residents at the Neighbor’s Nursing Home in Byron, where she was a volunteer for over 30 years. Over the last few years, she also enjoyed volunteering at Porch, a gift store in Rockford, with some of her dearest friends. Pam was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Forrest Simons, Jr., Roger Simons, and three infant brothers; her great granddaughter, Taytum Elizabeth Berry; parents-in-law, Eugene and Marian Bolen; brother-in-law, Fred Wiederholtz, and Nephew, Jack Dollmeyer. She is survived by her husband, James Bolen, of Davis Junction; two daughters, Ann Marie (Michael) Myrvold of Monroe Center and Leslie (Michael) Showers of Byron; six grandchildren, Keegan (Sarah) Myrvold of Oregon, IL, Kourtnee (Taylor) Berry of Greenbrier, AR, Kolton (Cassidy) Myrvold of Oregon, IL, Brennan Showers (Sarah Hogenson) of Nashville, TN, Dylan Showers of Byron, IL, and Carson Showers of Byron, IL; three great grandchildren, Brooks Berry, Sutton Myrvold, and baby Myrvold on the way; sisters-in-law, Jean Simons and Sandy Wiederholtz; and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Kishwaukee Community Evangelical Presbyterian Church near Stillman Valley with Brennan Showers, Pam’s grandson, officiating.
