Phillip “Phil” C. Hayenga, age 80, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. He was born in Adaline, IL on March 13, 1943 the son of Carl and Florence (Myers) Hayenga. Phil was someone you enjoyed being around and you could count on to respond with a witty comment. The most important thing in his life was the family he built with Donna. He was loving, dedicated, and proud father and grandfather. He is survived and missed by his wife, Donna of Byron; children, Jeff (Donna) Hayenga of Ashville, NC, and Laura (Jeff) Kilmer of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Nathan Hayenga, Jordan (Will) Ashby, Ally Hayenga, and Payton (Fiancé Zach Rollins) Kilmer; great grandson, Liam Ashby; sister, Sharon (Tom) Howard; and uncle, Don Myers. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Serenity Hospice for their wonderful care of Phil. Per his request no services are being held at this time. Memorials may be directed to the family to be split amongst charities that meant the most to him.
