Ronald "Ron" E. Weber

BYRON, IL ~ Ronald “Ron” Edward Weber, 80, of Byron, IL, passed away peacefully at Serenity Hospice and Home on Sept. 5, 2026, after suffering from pancreatic cancer. He was born in Dubuque, IA, on July 20, 1946, the son of Edward & Marcella (Eggers) Weber.

Ron graduated from Senior High in Dubuque in 1964 and from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA in 1969 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He received several job opportunities including with Caterpillar and Weyerhaeuser but then was drafted in the Army. His basic training was at Fort Polk, LA and then he was transferred to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. There he completed training in Pershing Missile Repair and Methods of Instruction at the base, and where he became a nuclear missile instructor. He served in the Army from June 25, 1969 to January 1, 1972 and while there he married Mary Alice Vincenti, from River Forest, IL, on January 3, 1970.

Together they shared 56 years of a wonderful married life. While still in the Army he was able to be the administrator of Extendicare Nursing Home in Huntsville and later on administrator of Lena Continental Manor and part administrator of Rockford Memorial Hospital. In 1979 he purchased five Taco John Restaurants adding the Brass Bull later and after selling them bought three Long John Silver Restaurants. After selling the locations Ron & Mary moved to Byron, IL in 1992 where he opened Parts Direct, The Byron Quick Lube and later Sam’s Drive-In.

He is survived by his wife Mary, son Christopher Weber, and daughter Heidi Stenberg. He had five grandchildren, Malia & Kaiona Weber, August & Anders & Alexia Stenberg. He is also survived by his sister Betty Oliver (Jerry), and brothers-in-law Leo Vincenti ( Bonnie) and Frank Vincenti (Tish) and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, and brothers-in-law, Larry & Anthony Vincenti and sister-in-law Arlene Vincenti.

Ron was a great car enthusiast and always offered any help with car repair, etc. He was an active member of the Antique Car Club of America for several years. He was also secretary for several years at the Rock River Center in Oregon, IL, member of the Knights of Columbus and Usher of St. Mary Church in Byron, IL.

Ron had many friends including his McDonald’s buddies and will truly be missed by all. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and provided with a generous heart.

He will live forever in our loving memories. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Vincent de Paul or your favorite charity

A visitation honoring Ron’s long life has been scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Byron, IL between the hours of 9:00AM and 11:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place immediately following the visitation at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Byron, IL beginning at 11:00AM with Father Mio Pavino presiding. Following the Mass will be a luncheon at church where all can gather for food and fellowship together. Ron will then be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Byron, IL.
