MONROE CENTER, IL ~ Russell B. Reid, 74, died suddenly in his Monroe Center home on Saturday, July 19, 2025. He was born on May 7, 1951, in Dekalb, IL the son of William Reid and Mary Pippin. He worked for 50 years at what is now Gleason of Rockford. Russell loved to be active, finding joy in sports like volleyball, softball and caring for animals. Nothing brought him greater joy however, than his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Russell was a truly selfless man when it came to his family. He would always make sure to be there for them. Every Sunday afternoon he would get together with his family and spend that time being close to them.
He is preceded in death by his father William (Pat) Reid, mother Mary (Emest) Stucker, and grandmother Lottie (Sim) Pippin. Russell is survived and missed dearly by his loving children Jody (Scott) Dabson and Britt Reid; grandchildren Jeffery, Kaitlyn “Nova”, Steven, Ember, Madison, Maddie, Logan, Morgan, Zander and Baylee; great-grandchildren Alani, Atlas and Journee; sisters Linda (Bob) Davison, Sally (Dan) Reed and Judy (Larry) Hill; half-siblings Diana Reid, Donna Reid, Aaron Reid; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home of Stillman Valley, IL. Funeral services to honor Russell will be held the following day, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home of Stillman Valley, IL, with Pastor Don Wink presiding. Following the funeral services, Russell will be laid to rest near his mother at Monroe Center Cemetery of Monroe Center, IL.
