Steven "Steve" George Groenhagen

OREGON, IL ~ Steven “Steve” George Groenhagen, age 62, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at his home in Oregon, IL. He was born at Warmolts Clinic of Oregon, IL, on August 3, 1964, the son of George & Rozann “Rozie” (Schaefer) Groenhagen. He grew up in the Oregon area, attended and graduated from the Oregon School District. He stayed in the area and worked as a heavy equipment operator throughout his life. He was a meticulous operator, always making sure everything was done with precision and care. Beyond his job he loved collecting and working on antique John Deere tractors, attending shows all over the place.

Steve is survived by his parents George & Rozie Groenhagen; children, Daniel (Morgan) Groenhagen; Jonathon Groenhagen; Sarah Groenhagen; grandchildren Brinlee; wife of 28 years Kathy Groenhagen; siblings Dawn (Steve) Fenwick; Scott (Kayse) Groenhagen; Danette Kirchner; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home of Oregon, IL. A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026 between 1:00pm and 4:00pm at Steve’s Shop. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his name and may be directed to his family. Please contact the funeral home if you have questions.
