Thomas "Tom" J. Curtis

Thomas “Tom” J. Curtis, age 77, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 at UW Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. He was born in Chicago the son of Charles and Alice (Peterson) Curtis. Tom served his country in the United States Air Force. He married the love of his life, Deb Montag on September 25, 1970 and together they built a beautiful life. He worked for many years for Illinois Bell. Tom was a man that everyone could count on and who had a great sense of humor. He adored his family and was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He was a man with a faith in God who attended All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron. He was proudly sober for nearly 50 years and believed in helping others in their journey. He loved being outdoors basking in the sun and lounging in the pool. He was even known for mowing his lawn in the summer heat with a hot cup of coffee in hand. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed being on the water fishing with his family or out turkey hunting. He liked spending time with his ladies (his chickens) and taking care of his horse, Mayten. He loved going to car shows and going to lunch with the girls. At the end of the day he liked to wind down by watching Forged in Fire. He believed in appreciating the simple things in life like taking a bite of a big juicy steak and spending time with his friends and family who will miss him greatly. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don. He is survived and missed by his wife, Deb of Leaf River; daughter, Christine (Ron) Henson of Leaf River; granddaughter, Tiffany (Aaron Furgat) Morgan of Byron; and great grandson, Keegan and great grandson on the way, Dominic. Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron followed with a funeral service beginning at 12:00. Memorials may be directed to the family.
