Timothy E. Geishert

Timothy E. Geishert, an honored veteran of the United States Army and an avid sportsman, passed away August 31, 2025 at Amberwood Care Centre in Rockford. He had struggled for many years with multiple illnesses. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Everett and Anna Mary Wiles Geishert of Rockford and is survived by his brother, Philip L. Geishert (Marie Stanley) of Jacksonville, Florida; numerous cousins and a wide circle of supportive friends, including Nick and Sheri Morris. 

Tim was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran and served with the Joint Services Command in Saigon from 1968 thru 1969. During that time he was appointed to the staffs of General William Westmoreland and General Creighton Abrams. He was a proud recipient of the Joint Service Commendation Medal. 

After his return from Vietnam, he worked in a variety of professions, including the building trades, hospitality management and manufacturing. But his true passions were outdoors activities centered around hunting and fishing. An expert marksman in his early years, he was equally adept with a rifle, bow and arrow or rod and reel. For several years, he was employed by the Rockford Lyran’s Club at their Oak Hills Park Gun Club where he managed grounds maintenance and often helped with Sunday brunches and special events. 

Tim was the quintessential armchair traveler and dreamer. He was a master at spinning magical tales. With an open and charming personality, Tim truly never met a stranger. He is sorely missed.
