Stillman Valley, IL – Victor J. Smith, age 88, died Friday, June 18, 2021 at Generation’s at Neighbor’s in Byron, IL.  He was born August 1, 1932 in Rochelle, IL the son of Victor and Ellen Weeks Smith.  He graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1950.  Vic married Susan “Sue” Jean Lace on August 10, 1979 in Rockton, IL.  Vic managed Stillman Valley Grain and Feed for many years.  He also constructed buildings for Lester Building Company.  For several years he installed grain dryers for local farmers.  He served his community on the Ogle County Zoning Board.  Vic was a 63-year member of the Stillman Valley Lion’s Club becoming the longest member in its history.  He served as President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Board Member as well as receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow Award from the International Lions Club. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Sue and step brothers, John, Bill, and Bob Weeks.  He is survived by his 4 children-Craig (Meryl) Smith of Capetown, South Africa, Denise (Ron) Nelson of Coppell, Texas, Vicki (Chuck) Kamperman of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Therese Cinotto of Estes Park, Colorado; 10 grandchildren-Zachary, Josh, Kiele, Roth, Taylor, Kelsey, Ian, Dana, Graham, and Emily; 8 great grandchildren-Morgan, Colin, Laurel, Scarlett, Sydney, Wyatt, Clark, and Emmett; sister Betty (Jason) Dietrich and brother Frank (Betsy) Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.  A private celebration of Vic’s Life will take place at a later date.  Burial will be at the Stillman Valley Cemetery.  A memorial fund is established for the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL.
