Andrew "Andy" Jackson

February 23, 1929 — November 9, 2020

Byron

Andrew (Andy) Paul Jackson, 91, of Byron went home to Jesus November 9, 2020, from Covid-19 complications. He was born February 23, 1929, in Rockford to Frank and Elizabeth Jackson, and married Shirley Bymaster in 1949. Andy will be remembered by his family and friends as one of the most generous and kind men in town. If you were blessed to know Andy, you probably tasted his dried apples, rhubarb pizza, wassail, or pecan pie. No fruit was left untouched by his baking prowess.

A man with a servant’s heart, Andy served as a Marine, Boy Scout Troop Leader, board member at various churches, and even helped build Beacon Hill Assembly of God, where some of his woodworking handiwork still adorns the building to this day. Andy retired from the City of Byron after 25 years in the Public Works Department. He was proud to say that he alone managed the day-to-day operations and repairs of the Byron Water Treatment Plant during his tenure with the city.

He will be greatly missed by his daughter Betsy (Blaine) Young; half-sister Marilyn (Evan) Artran; sisters-in-law Dorothy Jackson and Char Jackson; granddaughters Sasha Schultz and Nicole Jackson (Ben Hayden); great-grandchildren Andrew, Mathew, Ariana, Kimberly, and Evalynn; and close friends Gary and Pat. Predeceased by his parents, brothers, and sons Bruce and Timothy.

Many thanks to the doctors and nurses of the CCU at Swedish American Hospital and Dr. Linda Razbadouski.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held for the family with Pastor Gary Cortese of Beacon Hill Assembly of God officiating. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
