Jessie A. Manring

October 1, 1928 ~ December 5, 2013 (age 85)


Jessie A. Manring, 85, of Stillman Valley, died on Thursday December 5, 2013 in Omaha, Neb. She was surrounded by her loved ones at her passing. Jessie was born October 2, 1928, the child of a Watertown South Dakota farmer, and when she was still very young, her family moved to northern Illinois to find better farm ground. They settled in the area near Stillman Valley Il. Jessie attended school there, graduating and going on to college in Northern Illinois University where she earned her undergraduate degree and later went on to University of Illinois where she earned her Masters. She taught family and consumer science in the Stillman school district for 33 years until her retirement. She met and married Gerald Manring, and to this union Linda Manring was born. Jessie and Gerald were both licensed pilots, owning their own plane. They were married 44 years until Gerald's passing. Jessie loved to travel, met and made many friends over the world while travelling to 26 different countries. Everyone who knew her all agreed she had a great heart, and touched anyone she met. Her favorite travel place was her annual trip to South Padre Island during the winter months. She loved the ocean, the beaches, and most of all the warmer weather. Painting was her favorite hobby, and she was a published artist, displaying many of her works at the Rockford Art Center. She donated many paintings to the various area schools and other institutions. Jessie is survived by her daughter Linda Ferguson (husband Scott), grandson Joshua Tausz, grandson Jeffrey Tausz all of Omaha, Ne., cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends that were dear to her heart.Visitation will be held Thursday Dec. 12th from 5pm and 7pm at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home at 136 West Roosevelt Road, Stillman Valley, Il. 61084. Funeral services to be held at 11:00AM Friday Dec 13, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church 827 16th St. Rockford, Il. 61104. There will not be a graveside service. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
