Karl Gutfrucht

Karl Albert Gutfrucht, age 33, died Saturday, August 28, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born September 27, 1987 in Park Ridge, IL the son of Alan and Mary (Kiczula) Gutfrucht.  He graduated from Oregon High School in 2006 and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010.  Throughout his career Karl worked as a Foreign Affairs Staff Associate for former United States Rep. Donald Manzullo, he taught English in Korea, worked as a personnel manager at Yellowstone National Park, and most recently for the University of New Mexico Student Housing.  He married Bethany Cohnheim on Nov. 2, 2019 in Ribera, New Mexico; together they were blessed with their beautiful baby girl named Ona 4 months ago.  Karl had a love for politics, he was an Eagle Scout, enjoyed geography, math, camping, hiking, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.   Karl was preceded in death by his grandparents.  He is survived by his loving wife Bethany Gutfrucht of Albuquerque, NM, and their daughter Ona, his parents Alan and Mary Gutfrucht of Oregon, IL., 3 brothers; Derek Gutfrucht of Albuquerque, NM, Max Gutfrucht of Oregon, IL, and Kurt (Michelle) Gutfrucht of Chicago, IL, his nephew and niece Walter and Wren Gutfrucht, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street, Oregon, IL with the Pastor Jack Briggs of the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin Grove officiating.  Visitation for Karl will be from 4-7 pm, Wednesday evening at the funeral home. A mask is required for the funeral and visitation.  A memorial fund is established in Karl’s name for the benefit of his daughter and may be directed to the family.
