Obituary

Byron - Ronald L. Galuski, 80, of Byron (Formerly of Morton Grove, IL) passed away on December 9, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on November 5, 1933 to Helen and Leo Galuski of Chicago, IL he was the oldest of six children. He graduated from Lane Technical High School in Chicago and entered the Air Force and served in the Korean War, he was based at Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts and served with the 58th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. Ron was a member of the American Legion. He married Mary Ann Russell of Madison, Wisconsin on October 27, 1956. After Korea, Ron became a journeyman auto mechanic and in 1963 traveled seven states helping pioneer the installation of aftermarket air conditioning for autos, trucks, and tractors. In the early 60's car manufacturers considered air conditioning a luxury item due to the cost. Ron is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary Ann, three children Russell, Robin (Andy) Pelsis and Mark; six grandsons, Brian (Patti) Galuski, Jason Pelsis, Kenneth Galuski, Randall Galuski, Robert Galuski, and Zachery Galuski; one great granddaughter, Alexis Galuski; brother Tom Galuski and sister Debbie (Tom) Bartosiak; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Geraldine Gruber and Shirley Goeringer and brother John Galuski. He is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Byron. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday December 14, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Byron with Father Howard Barch officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church, Serenity Home and Hospice or Fisher House Foundation in Rockville, MD.
