Shirley Reber

Shirley J. Reber, age 92, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. She was born on June 28, 1929 in Byron to George and Lena (Hoyt) Ashelford and then adopted by her grandparents George and Nancy Ashelford. Shirley attended Byron High School. She married Hibbard Reber on August 23, 1947; he preceded her in death in 1996. She worked as an assembly line worker for Kysor for many years. She was a member of the United Church of Byron. Shirley loved collecting bells and had bells from all over the world. In her spare time; she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and embroidery even taking the time to teach the skills to her grandchildren. She loved tending to her flower garden. Shirley helped with the Hib Reber Memorial Car Show for the past 31 years. She is survived and missed by her children, Jackie (David) Ward of Stockton, CA and Darrell (Lisa) Reber of Byron; grandchildren, Robert (Rita) Ward, Michael (Susan) Ward, Daniel Ward, Jessica (Veordo) Gamble, and Adam Reber; great grandchildren, Justin (Jenna) Ward, Elizabeth (Benjamin) Brooker, Kyle Ward, Andrea Ward, Trenton Ward, Felicia Ward, Samantha (Keshaun) Reid, Seth (Lorissa) Strawn, and Sydney (Connor) Jerke; and great great grandchildren, Aurora, Haley, Riley, Everly, Addison, Shane, Charlie Mae, Atticus, Alaina, and one more on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, daughters, Vicki and Shelby, and great grandson, Benjamin. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 11:00 at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Byron with Pastor Tyler Spellious officiating. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery. A celebration of life and refreshments will be held at the United Church of Byron on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Memorials are established in her name.
