Helen A. Brunner, 91, longtime Oregon resident, died Friday March 11, 2016 in Swedish-American Hospital, Rockford. Born May 2, 1924 in Eston, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Raymond and Viva (Hemmingway) Chambers. Married to Roger Brunner August 10, 1951 in Kirkland. Helen graduated from high school in Big Rock and apprenticed hairdressing at a beauty shop in DeKalb. She owned and operated Helen Brunner's Beauty Shop from her home in Oregon for over 50 years. She was a member of Oregon United Methodist Church and a former member and past Matron of the Easter Star and former member of the Oregon Public Library Board. Helen enjoyed vacationing with her family at their cottage at Lake Ripley in Wisconsin. Survived by her husband, Roger of Oregon; son Ken Brunner of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Cynthia Fegter of Palatka, FL; and grandchildren, Amber and Noah Fegter. Predeceased by her parents, brothers, Vernon "Bud" Chambers and Bernard Chambers, and sister, Maurene Kersten. Funeral servies will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, March 15 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with Pastor Barbara Good of Oregon United Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Visitation Monday 6:00 -8:00pm in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lions of Illinois Foundation or Oregon United Methodist Church.
