James Corcoran

James Matthew Corcoran, 52, of Oregon died Monday November 25, 2013 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford. He was born January 18, 1961 in Rockford, the son of Thomas & Elizabeth (Kereven) Corcoran. He married Jillene Page on June 2, 1984 in Oregon. Jim worked in Rockford at Amcore Bank for 20 years and then at Alpine Bank for the past 5 years. He was a member of the Oregon Church of God. Jim loved sports and he was a member of the Oregon High School 1979 sectional basketball championship team and went on to play basketball for 4 years at Beloit College. He was involved in all sporting activities of his 3 daughters, both as a coach and a spectator. Jim enjoyed being a member of the "chain gang" at OHS football games, closely followed college basketball, and had a collection of college team sweatshirts. He liked all Chicago sports teams, especially the Cubs, who he predicted would win the World Series in 2016. Jim also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, for conversation and refreshments, at Voris' garage.
Survivors include his wife, Jill; daughters, Brittany (Adam) Groenhagen, Sarah Corcoran, & Anna Corcoran all of Oregon; mother, Elizabeth Corcoran of Oregon; sisters, Jean (John) Deuth of Polo & Jan (Richard) Alcumbrack of Michigan; brother, Tom (Peggy) Corcoran of Oregon; and several aunts, uncles, & cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial services will be held Saturday Nov. 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Oregon Church of God, 860 W. Oregon Trail Rd, Oregon with Pastor Michael Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 4:00-8:00 PM. Private burial will be in Daysville Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
