Keith A. Lamping, 73, of Byron and formerly of Rockford, died Monday March 31, 2014 in Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon. Born October 11, 1940 in Thompson, Iowa, the son of William and Charlotte (Jacobson) Lamping. Married to Joan Campbell September 22, 2000 in Rockford. Keith was employed as a machinist at Barber-Coleman in Rockford over 30 years, retiring in 2007 and then was a bus driver for the Byron School District. He was a US Navy veteran and a member of the Belvidere Moose Lodge. Keith enjoyed line dancing, camping and his monthly euchre club. Survived by his wife, Joan of Byron; daughter, Jessica (Edward) Cosgriff, in Italy with the US Air Force; son, Josh (Heather) Lamping of Leaf River; step sons: Donavan VanTassel of Rockford and Kevin (Christine) VanTassel and Greg (Regan) VanTassel, both of Roscoe; grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Mickey Lamping, Mikyla Cosgriff, Carrin, Kameron, Taylor and Brady VanTassel and a future Cosgriff granddaughter; brother, Les (Kathy) Lamping of Iowa; sister, Joy Palmeri of California; sisters-in-law, Judy Lamping of Cherry Valley and Cindy Lamping of Nevada; and his beloved dog, Misty. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Karen Freer and brothers Gary and Darrell Lamping. Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00pm Friday April 4, 2014 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Byron. No further services are scheduled. Memorials may be made in Keith's name to Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon.
