Arthur Werner Dietze, a man of faith, 99, of Oregon died
Thursday February 5, 2015 in Serenity Hospice Home, Oregon. He was born August 28, 1915 in Chicago, IL the son of Arthur R. & Frieda (Brylka) Dietze. He married Grace Ruth Jungblut at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicago on June 15, 1940 and were married for 73 years; she died in 2013. Art was employed by E.W. Kniep Inc. in Chicago until 1959 and then relocated to Oregon where he worked at Ogle Lumber Co. until owning and operating Fischer’s Store in Oregon from 1963 until retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Oregon Country Club, and was an ambulance volunteer. One of his proudest moments was his hole-in-one in 1991 at Indian Hills Country Club in Fairfield Bay, Ark. witnessed by his daughter Val. He was Past President of the Lion’s Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. Art also volunteered many hours at LOMC in Oregon. He enjoyed traveling, especially the many winters he & Grace spent in Florida. Most recently, Art resided at Oregon Living Center and enjoyed the residents and activities there.
Survivors include daughters, Allegra Gicla of Greensboro, NC & Val (Jack) Glotfelty of Oregon; grandchildren, Nicole (Mitchell) Krasowski of Greensboro, NC, Aaron (Melissa) Beaty of DeKalb, IL; granddaughter-in-law, Misty Beaty of Cedar Rapids, IA; and great grandchildren, Madeline & Kate Krasowski , Morgan & David Beaty & Briggs Beaty. He was also preceded in death by son-in-law, David Beaty, grandson, Scott Beaty, sister, Gertrude Schwarz, and brother, Elmer Dietze.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday Feb. 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM, preceded by visitation from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, IL. Burial will be in Daysville Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Serenity Hospice & Home or Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center.
